Aha Drives Ahead at CES 2013

​We spent last week in Las Vegas along with 150,000 other tech enthusiasts to see all that’s new in electronics, gadgetry and connected cars. Our team gave hundreds of demos and showcased Aha's latest to content and automotive partners, future partners, reporters, and analysts who stopped by our tent just outside of the LV Convention Center north and central halls. Unlike past years where we demonstrated a prototype automotive integration of Aha, this year we showcased Aha running in a new 2013 Porsche Cayenne and a 2013 Honda Accord. It was much easier to explain the Aha vision when people were able to access their favorite Web content as easily as a radio station in these cars. In addition, being outside in Las Vegas we originally thought we might be able to work on our tans while demoing. Instead, it dropped to the 30’s and 40’s by the end of the week so we found that demoing in the cars was also a great way to keep warm!

CES sets the tone for the year ahead as many of our partners unveil new vehicles and devices featuring our service. We were proud to announce that the Aha service is being integrated by 10 different automotive manufacturers, which in total represent more than 50% of all cars sold in the USA/Canada (and up to 30% in Europe).

This week, Porsche, Ford and Chrysler announced that they will add the Aha service to vehicles beginning this year. Subaru, one of our first automotive partners, will offer Aha to virtually its entire line of vehicles this year. Aha was featured on stage at Ford’s big press conference about the Ford Sync AppLink developer program, and Chrysler showcased us in their booth.

On the content side of our business, we now offer 30,000 stations, and are growing rapidly. We’ve announced four new music partners, five new location based services publishers and three major entertainment companies that represent some of the most popular music, news, and entertainment audio content. With the touch of a preset button you will soon be able to hear a tour of a local attraction from Hear Planet, find out about nearby parks with ParkVisitor, hear your favorite music from Deezer or Rdio (when you are in Europe) or listen to the latest celebrity gossip from OK! Magazine. This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the thousands of new stations we’re adding through our content partners. We can’t wait for our users to dig into our updated app and discover all that is new for your ears.

For those who not in the market for a new car this year, Alpine has also joined the Aha family with a new aftermarket product featuring Aha. Kenwood will launch our first 1 DIN aftermarket product and long-time partner Pioneer has three updated products featuring Aha as well. To use Aha with an existing head unit without an audio input jack, accessory maker Griffin has partnered with us so it’s popular iTrip Auto adapter can now be controlled directly from Aha’s iPhone app.
